No 49er has worn No. 80 (in a game)* since Jerry Rice left the team in 2000. Now the 49ers will make it official. The team will retire Rice's former jersey number before Monday night's game against the Saints. No. 80 becomes the 11th 12th jersey retired by the team. During pregame ceremonies, Rice also will be given his Pro Football Hall of Fame ring. He will be an honorary team captain for the game.

* Isaac Bruce wore No. 80, his number with the Rams, during 49ers practices in his two seasons with the team. According to a team spokesman at the time, Bruce said it helped him recognize himself during film review of practices. That is not a joke.
