The Miami Dolphins have snatched offensive tackle Matt Kopa off the 49ers practice squad, according to the National Football Post. Kopa, an Elk Grove High product who played at Stanford, joined the 49ers late in the offseason after trying but failing to get an extra year of college eligibility. Kopa held up well after having foot surgery in February, and the 49ers were eying him as a long-term prospect.
Because he was taken off another team's practice squad, the Dolphins must keep Kopa on the active roster for at least three weeks. The 49ers, of course, used their top draft pick on an offensive tackle, Anthony Davis, and also have used an active roster spot on another young tackle, Alex Boone. Boone has been inactive every game this season. Last year, the Dolphins signed running back Kory Sheets off the 49ers practice squad. ... Fullback Jehuu Caulcrick, who spent most of the season on the 49ers practice squad, was signed by the Bills today.
