Niners scheduled to kick off preseason vs. Saints

Given the NFL's current labor situation, there might not be a preseason. But if there is, the 49ers know who they'll be playing. The team's exhibition opponents are:

Week 1, Aug. 13
@ New Orleans

Week 2 , Aug. 20
vs. Oakland

Week 3, Aug. 27
vs. Houston

Week 4, Sept. 1
@ San Diego

Chicago and St. Louis are scheduled to kick off the preseason on Aug. 7 in the Hall of Fame game. There was some thought that perhaps the 49ers, who have a new coaching staff and possibly a new quarterback, would get to play in the Hall of Fame game, which would allow them to begin training camp a week ahead of 30 other teams. Teams can't begin training camp more than 15 days before their first preseason game, which means the 49ers camp will begin around July 30. That is, if the lockout has been resolved or lifted. The regular-season schedule will be released later this month.

* The above dates were initially posted on NFL.com and later replaced with TBA.
