Undrafted rookies: The 49ers have a long list

The common thread among the 49ers' first four draft picks: They all either paid a visit to Santa Clara or, in Colin Kaepernick's case, had a workout with Jim Harbaugh, Trent Baalke and staff. Now that the draft is over, one of the questions is: Which undrafted players will the 49ers target (when the lockout is lifted)? The first place to look is at the list of players who visited/worked out for the 49ers but were not drafted. They are:

Chris Blohm, TE, Yale
Brett Brackett, TE, Penn State
Sean Creadick, WR, UC Davis
Kai Forbath, K, UCLA
Joe Hastings, WR, Washburn
Marc Schiechl, OLB, Colorado School of Mines
Anthony Walters, DB, Delaware
Jordan Watson, WR, Harding
Raymond Webber, WR, Arkansas Pine Bluff

Another group to look at is Stanford players who were not drafted. Quarterback Alex Loukas, who was Andrew Luck's backup, might be an inspired choice because he'd be more familiar with the offense than any other 49ers player. Most of these players attended the 49ers' "local" pro day last month:

ILB Chike Amajoyi
WR Doug Baldwin
C Chase Beeler
DL Brian Bulcke
T Derek Hall
OLB Thomas Keiser
QB Alex Loukas
LS Zach Nolan
TE Konrad Reuland
SS Taylor Skaufel
K Nate Whitaker.

Finally, here are the other players who worked at the "local" pro day. Teams tend to sign a lot of local players to fill out their training-camp rosters because, well, they are easier to sign.

NT Cornell Banks, Fresno State (San Jose)
OLB Keith Browner (Cal)
WR Emmanuel Burrell, West Virginia Wesleyan (Oakland)
G/T Donovan Edwards (Cal)
G Siosifa Etu, Arkansas State (Hayward)
G Richard Fisher (Cal)
WR Jamel Hamler, Fresno State (San Leandro)
QB Kyle Havens, Massachusetts-Amherst (Concord)
WR Adrian Hilburn, Kansas State (San Francisco)
NT Derrick Hill (Cal)
C Christoper Guarnero (Cal)
DE Ernest Lawson, San Diego State (Vallejo)
QB Zachary Lee, Nebraska (San Francisco)
CB Brian Logan, BYU (Fremont)
QB Jeremiah Masoli, Mississippi (San Francisco)
ILB Caleb McKenzie, Adams State (Oakland)
CB Sterling Moore, SMU (Oakland)
QB Kevin Riley (Cal)
WR Jeremy Ross (Cal)
TE Aaron Simmons, Arizona (Oakland)
RB Seth Smith, New Mexico State (Oakland)
WR Giovanni Stanley, Whittier (San Jose)
FB/DL Matangi Tonga, Houston (San Mateo)
SS Winston Venable, Boise State (San Rafael)
WR Charles Walker, Marshall (Oakland)
TE Naderris Ward, Central Washington (Oakland).
SS Paul Wright, Central Washington (Martinez)

In addition, The Santa Rosa Press Democrat reported this week that the 49ers showed interest in former Louisville QB Adam Froman during the draft. They did not show interest in undrafted passers, Pat Devlin of Delaware and Josh Portis of California, Pa.

Looking for a worthwhile Saturday activity? Head to Santa Clara University for the Walk 4 Pancreatic Cancer. A group of 49ers, led by offensive lineman Adam Snyder, is attending the event.

• Don't repeat the same comment over and over. We heard you the first time.

• Do not use the commenting system for advertising. That's spam and it isn't allowed.
