Michael Crabtree had a brief practice for the second day in a row Tuesday. This time it was official. The 49ers removed Crabtree off the physically unable to perform list Tuesday morning. However, he is not fully recovered from the broken foot he suffered in June and is still in rehabilitation mode.
As was the case Monday, Crabtree joined the quarterbacks for the first drills of practice in which they take short drop backs and then fire passes off to the side. Crabtree typically took two steps before turning around and catching passes and he looked quick doing do. He caught a few more passes at half speed before heading to a side field and joining Shawntae Spencer (hamstring) and Reggie Smith (knee) in their rehabilitation.
Crabtree is not expected to play in Thursday's preseason finale. His status for the Week 1 game against Seattle also is up in the air.
CSN Bay Area's Matt Maiocco noted that tight end Vernon Davis was absent for the half hour of practice that is open to the media. ****Update**** Harbaugh said that Davis was tending to a family matter.
