The 49ers' injury report today included several new additions, including nose tackle Isaac Sopoaga who missed practice with a staph infection, according to a source, and cornerback Shawntae Spencer who sat out the session with a toe injury. The 49ers already are short at cornerback. Tramaine Brock will miss Sunday's game as he recovers from a broken hand suffered in Week 2.
The other two players who will miss the game are Braylon Edwards, who continues to recover from a meniscus tear in his knee, and fullback Moran Norris, who likely has a broken fibula. Norris has been in an orthopedic boot for the last two weeks. Edwards is expected to return after the 49ers' Oct. 23 bye.
In addition, guards Mike Iupati (neck) and Adam Snyder (hamstring) were listed as limited, as were running back Frank Gore (ankle) and receiver Michael Crabtree (foot). Safety Donte Whitner (hip) was not on the report and practiced in full.
If Sopoaga is unable to play Sunday, Ricky Jean Francois would start at nose tackle and rookie Ian Williams likely would back him up. If Spencer can't play, it would mean more work for rookie Chris Culliver, who saw extensive action against the Eagles.
