Michael Crabtree's costly kicks

This is what you get for being fashion forward. Michael Crabtree was fined $10,000 for wearing beige-ish/gold cleats (Air Midas?) in Monday's game against the Steelers. Safety Donte Whitner, meanwhile, was hit with a $5,000 fine for a sock violation.

Crabtree is sponsored by Nike. I have a feeling the $10,000 fine is mere dryer lint compared to what the shoe giant is giving him and is considered money well spent by Nike in light of the exposure the kicks received on national television.

In other news, the release of Nike brand sneakers this week have led to bad behavior from coast to coast. Sigh. All NFL fines go toward retired players and to an array of league charities.
