Inside linebacker Patrick Willis was present for practice but did not have a helmet when sessions began Thursday. Willis, who missed three games with a hamstring strain last month, appears to be fine and likely is getting a day of rest. He was going through the motions in some of the drills, but was wearing a baseball cap instead of a helmet. We should know more when a practice participation report is released later this afternoon.
Meanwhile, safety Dashon Goldson (ankle) returned to practice after missing Wednesday's session. Jonathan Goodwin (calf) again was at practice but was not participating. Receiver Ted Ginn (knee), like Wednesday, was nowhere to be found.
Tight end Delanie Walker (jaw) was practicing and this time did not wear a black, no-contact jersey, at the start of practice. Defensive end Ray McDonald again initially worked out with trainers before joining his defensive line teammates.
It was not raining when practice began.
