It's all quiet at the 49ers facility .... aside from the constant beep beep beep of trucks backing up. Several team officials, including general manager Trent Baalke and COO Jed York, have come out of the building but declined comment.
There has been no sign of Alex Smith after the quarterback had a one-hour meeting with Jim Harbaugh on Monday. The 49ers don't appear to be budging from their three-year offer for $24 million (approximately $10 million guaranteed). That offer has been on the table for more than two weeks now.

Remember those Tim Tebow rumors from this morning? Adam Schefter has pulled them back and now says the 49ers are not contemplating a trade for Tebow. It made no sense from an on-field standpoint but perfect sense if the 49ers were trying to pressure Smith into signing.
"Tebow is not coming here," said 49ers owner Jed York as he was returning from lunch on Tuesday.

Free agent Geoff Schwartz arrived at noon for his visit. The big guard also has met with the Lions and Vikings. Schwartz, who is from Southern California, grew up a 49ers fan. if signed, he'd likely compete for the starting job at right guard with Daniel Kilgore. The 49ers also are considering veteran Leonard Davis for the position.

Many of you have asked why Mario Manningham has not signed his contract and whether there is something that scuttled the deal. It's just taken a while to have the paperwork completed and sent back to team headquarters. The two-year deal could become official as early as today.
