Ted Ginn, who has not played a meaningful game for the 49ers since the team's divisional playoff win over the Saints, was back for the beginning of practice today. Ginn injured his ankle Aug. 26 in Denver and hasn't practiced in full since.
Meanwhile, running back Brandon Jacobs (knee) appears close to returning to practice. He still was rehabilitating on a side a side field -- along with rookies Darius Fleming and Jewel Hampton -- but he was dressed in his uniform, perhaps an indication he could be taking part in some drills during the closed portion of practice.
Ginn likely would resume his kick- and punt-return duties if healthy. Kyle Williams has filled in as the punt returner the last two games and has done a fine job. Kick returner Kendall Hunter, however, fumbled in the first quarter Sunday.
