49ers sign Bakhtiari to fill special teams role

The 49ers said "hello again" to an old associate, Eric Bakhtiari, who spent the offseason and three weeks of the regular season with the team. The 49ers are in need of a special teams player after placing defensive end Demarcus Dobbs on injured reserve on Tuesday.

Bakhtiari, an outside linebacker, played for Jim Harbaugh at the University of San Diego. He actually was on the player committee that interviewed Harbaugh before he got the job with the Toreros. He tried out for the team in the spring and was one of the final cuts before the regular season. He later was re-signed while fellow outside linebacker Clark Haggans served a three-game suspension.

The 49ers still must fill a roster spot opened by Brandon Jacobs' three-game suspension.
