****UPDATE**** Wide receivers Quinton Patton and Kyle Williams changed into street clothes after warmups and will not play in the game.
Fourth-round draft pick Quinton Patton, who missed the 49ers preseason opener with a finger injury, is in uniform today against the Chiefs.
Patton damaged the forefinger on his left hand before training camp opened, and while he has been able to run routes at practice he was instructed not to catch passes. Patton had been practicing with the finger heavily wrapped, but it appears to be free of any extra protection today.
Patton ostensibly is one of the players competing for a role at wideout opposite Anquan Boldin this season. Jim Harbaugh has been complimentary of the rookie despite the fact that he has not been able to practice in full to this point. All 11 of the 49ers' healthy wideouts are in uniform for pre-game warmups. Michael Crabtree and Mario Manningham remain on the physically unable to perform list.
Left tackle Joe Staley also is in uniform. Staley missed four practices going back to last week with an undisclosed injury. He has been on hand for the last two sessions. It remains to be seen whether either player -- and others in uniform, such as running back Frank Gore -- plays against the Chiefs.
