LONDON - The only competition so far in this game? Who will finish with more rushing yards, Colin Kaepernick or Frank Gore?
The 49ers quarterback is leading at the moment - 55 yards to Gore's 53 - as the 49ers ran away with the first half and lead the winless Jaguars, the "home" team at Wembley Stadium, 28-3.
Kaepernick, who scored his first rushing touchdown last week against Tennessee, scored two more in the first half. He also had a nice, touch-pass touchdown to Vernon Davis from the shadow of the goal line. Davis leads all pass catchers with three receptions for 52 yards.
Jacksonville engineered a field-goal drive at the end of the half and will have the opening possession when the third quarter begins. But they mostly have played to their 0-7 record.
On the first 49ers' offensive drive, they failed to cover fullback Bruce Miller at the sideline. Kaepernick zipped a quick pass to him, and Miller ran for a 43-yard gain. That led to a a 19-yard touchdown run by Gore, who also had an excellent block on Kaepernick's 12-yard touchdown run in the first quarter.
Punter Andy Lee only has made one appearance as the 49ers have converted five of seven third-down attempts. One of their third-down failures resulted in a short fourth-down conversion.
The only 49er who seems to be struggling is receiver/returner Kyle Williams. He flubbed a punt and a kickoff, and also a fielded a kickoff in the corner of the end zone before running out of bounds at the 3-yard line. Williams also has one carry for 10 yards and one catch for seven yards.
