Michael Crabtree went through his second straight practice on Thursday without any ill effects. More than that, the 49ers had their top four receivers - Crabtree, Anquan Boldin, Mario Manningham and Quinton Patton - together at practice for the first time this season. Manningham, who missed Wednesday's session, was listed as limited. So was Patton, who is coming back from a broken foot.
Crabtree, meanwhile, seems more and more likely to make his 2013 debut against the Rams on Sunday. There was a question about how Crabtree, who is returning from a torn Achilles' tendon, would respond the day after going through a full practice. Offensive coordinator Greg Roman said Crabtree "looks like Mike's always looked."
Roman that whenever Crabtree returns to the playing field, he won't be on a pitch count. But he said it also would be unlikely that the receiver plays a full game right away.
"I think that's a fair statement in a general sense," Roman said when it was suggested that Crabtree would be eased back into action. "I don't think we're going to just throw him out there and have him play every play."
Crabtree, as he did on Wednesday, declined to speak to reporters. In addition to Manningham, linebacker NaVorro Bowman and defensive end Justin Smith returned to practice after sitting out Wednesday's session. Ahmad Brooks practiced in a non-contact jersey.
