Both Vernon Davis and Eric Reid went through a limited practice Wednesday, three days after leaving the game against Carolina with concussions. Both must pass a series of cognitive tests and must be cleared by the 49ers team doctors and an independent neurologist in order to play this week. They have passed all their tests so far and both practiced in blue, no-contact jerseys on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, receiver Mario Manningham, who played his first game Sunday since suffering two torn knee ligaments Dec. 23, was limited in practice with a knee injury. Manningham was not on the injury report last week. Two other new additions to the injury report, FB Bruce Miller (hamstring) and OLB Dan Skuta (foot), also were listed as limited.
Tight end Garrett Celek (hamstring), defensive end Ray McDonald (ankle) and defensive end Justin Smith (shoulder) did not practice. The 49ers likely will elevate practice-squad tight end Derek Carrier to the active roster if Celek can't play Sunday.
Michael Crabtree was not on the practice field when Wednesday's session began. However, he is not on the 53-man roster and is not subject to the weekly participation reports.
