49ers pre-game: WR Patton will get another chance to make mark

The 49ers will enter their finale in Arizona with rookie Quinton Patton in the role of No. 3 receiver after Mario Manningham was placed on injured reserve on Friday. Patton played 18 snaps last week but did not see any passes go in his direction. He has one catch for zero yards on the season.

The No. 4 receiver will be Kassim Osgood, a special teams player who caught one pass for 17 yards last week against the Falcons. Jon Baldwin is inactive for the ninth time this season, meaning that he will finish the regular season with three catches for 28 yards. The player for whom Baldwin was traded earlier this year, A.J. Jenkins, has five catches for 63 yards for the Chiefs heading into today's finale. Jenkins will start today for Kansas City, which is sitting many of its starters, including quarterback Alex Smith.

Tight end/H-back Derek Carrier also is inactive. That means the fullback role will again fall to Anthony Dixon and 290-pound Will Tukuafu. Backup outside linebacker Dan Skuta is active after missing practice with a lingering foot issue this past week. Skuta was listed as questionable on the 49ers' injury report.
