Iupati back for 49ers; Manningham won't play vs. Falcons

Mike Iupati, the spear point of the 49ers' rushing attack, is active for the first time since injuring his knee in New Orleans on Nov. 17. Iupati will start at his familiar left guard spot, meaning that the 49ers' starting offensive line, intact for all of last season, is together again for the first time in five games.

Receiver Mario Manningham, who missed two practices last week, is not active. Manningham dealt with both soreness in his knee and an illness, according to the team's injury report. He has one catch for two yards in the last three games. Promising rookie Quinton Patton, who hasn't played since Week 4, will take his place in the lineup. Patton suffered a broken foot in the Week 4 game at St. Louis but seemed to be settling into the No. 2 receiver role during that game. Both Manningham and Michael Crabtree were injured at the time.

Also active is fullback Will Tukuafu, who was signed on Wednesday. The 293 pounder will be one of several players filling in for injured Bruce Miller, who has played nearly 60 percent of the 49ers' snaps this season but who injured his scapula and is out for the season. Anthony Dixon also will see time at fullback and is listed as the starter at the position. Tight end/H-back Derek Carrier, however is inactive.
