Eric Wright, whom the 49ers felt could step in at cornerback in Carlos Rogers can't play Sunday, now is dealing with his own hamstring injury. Wright was added to the team's injury report today after presumably suffering the injury in practice. He was listed as a limited participant. Wright was not on Wednesday's injury report.
Meanwhile, defensive coordinator Vic Fangio today said that Rogers' hamstring injury was not as severe as originally feared and the team is holding out hope that the veteran cornerback can play against the Packers. Rogers, however, has missed the team's two practices so far this week.
Given how much the Packers like to throw the ball and how many three- and four- receiver formations they use, having two injured cornerbacks is a major development for the 49ers. The team signed another cornerback, Perrish Cox, on Monday. They also could tap undrafted rookie Darryl Morris, who thus far has been used mainly on special teams.
