Injury report: Carlos Rogers not practicing today

Cornerback Carlos Rogers began today's practice on an elliptical machine, raising the prospect that his sore hamstring could keep him out of his second straight game. Meanwhile, fellow cornerback Eric Wright was on hand at the start of practice. Wright injured his hamstring last week in practice but unlike Rogers was able to play some - five snaps on special teams - against the Packers.

The other 49ers who were not practicing today were defensive linemen Justin Smith and Demarcus Dobbs, as well as center Jonathan Goodwin. Smith and Goodwin are two of the most senior members of the team and they routinely get Wednesdays off.

Dobbs, meanwhile, injured his knee against the Packers. He plays both on special teams coverage units and as a backup to Smith and Ray McDonald at defensive end. If he can't play, look for rookie Quinton Dial to be active against the Panthers.

Did not practice: DT Demarcus Dobbs (knee, shoulder), C Jonathan Goodwin (not injury related), CB Carlos Rogers (hamstring), DT Justin Smith (shoulder)

Full participation: LB Navorro Bowman (wrist), WR Michael Crabtree (wrist), RB Frank Gore (knee), LB Dan Skuta (foot)

Limited participation: DT Colin Cole (calf), WR Steve Smith (knee)

Full participation: TE Ben Hartsock (knee), S Quintin Mikell (thumb), RB Jonathan Stewart (knee)
