No. 243. Kaleb Ramsey, DE, Boston College. The 49ers waited until their penultimate pick to take a defensive lineman. Ramsey has classic size for a 3-4 defensive end at 6-3, 293 pounds. Impressively, he had 36 repetitions of 225 pounds on the bench press before the draft. Ramsey spent six seasons at Boston College after being injured in 2011 and 2012. Last year he finished with 28 tackles, four for loss and had two sacks.
No. 245. Trey Millard, FB, Oklahoma. The 49ers rounded out the draft -- perhaps appropriately -- with another player who suffered an ACL injury. Millard (6-2, 247) tore his ACL and another ligament in his left knee in October following a 38-30 win over No. 10 Texas Tech. The versatile Millard was a team captain last year. He has good size and soft hands having caught 30 passes for the Sooners in 2012. Draft picks Brandon Thomas, a guard, and Keith Reaser, a cornerback, also are coming off ACL tears.
The 49ers' starting fullback, of course, is Bruce Miller, a seventh-round pick in 2011 whom the team recently awarded with a three-year contract extension. It's possible that the 49ers are looking at Millard as an H-back.
