Update 12 p.m.: The O.C. Weekly reports that Orange County Republican Party Chairman Scott Baugh has called on Duvall to step down: "There's nothing defensible in what I saw or heard. ... My heart goes out to Mike's family. But given the gravity of the situation, he should consider resigning."
Update 11:10 a.m.: Assembly Speaker Karen Bass has stripped Duvall of his posts on the Assembly Rules and Utilites and Commerce committees and directed the ethics committee to review the tapes. Read more, including Duvall's apology, here.
Assemblyman Mike Duvall, R-Yorba Linda, inadvertently spilled the beans about his extramarital sex life when he was caught on tape bragging about two simultaneous affairs, one with a female lobbyist.
Apparently unaware that the microphone was hot at a televised public hearing of the Assembly Appropriations Committee in July, the married Orange County Republican decided to recount some steamy stories from his sexcapades with not one, but two mistresses. During the conversation, Duvall describes his lover's "eye-patch underwear," snickers about how she likes to be spanked and boasts about their age difference.
You can read the scoop on the sex scandal, which was reported by the OC Weekly's R. Scott Moxley, here.
The hearing can be viewed here (Duvall's comments come about 29 minutes into the tape).
Update 11:30 a.m.: Here's KCAL's video report on the story, which aired last night and includes snippets of the conversation.
