The latest on California politics and government

Two of California's heated congressional contests have been named among the top 60 seats primed to switch party control in the upcoming midterm elections, according to a ranking released today by The National Journal.

The seat now held by Republican Rep. Dan Lungren, running for re-election in the 3rd Congressional District, came in at No. 57. It was one of just six GOP-held seats to make the list. Lungren is being challenged by Democrat Ami Bera, an Elk Grove physician.

The battle in the 11th Congressional District made the cut at No. 60. Democratic Rep. Jerry McNerney faces Republican David Harmer, who also ran in last fall's special election in the 10th Congressional District.
