From Ryan Lillis:
Four juveniles -- apparently too cool for school -- were nabbed after allegedly committing a pair of home burglaries in Sacramento's Pocket area midday Monday, police said.
Even more troubling was the fact that police believe the crew took handguns in both break-ins and may be responsible for several more burglaries in the area.
More story:
The four boys were chased down by police officers following break-ins on Green Moss Drive and Sunwind Way around noon Monday, according to Sacramento police records. Jewelry, money and the same caliber handgun were taken in both burglaries, records show.
A Sacramento police officer responding to the burglaries checked the parking lot of the nearby Florin Shopping Center and spotted two suspects running away from him. He caught them and both were arrested in connection with the break-ins, police said.
Two other officers searching the area found two more suspects trying to hide in a business office on the southwest corner of Florin Road and Greenhaven Drive, police said.
One of the victims identified jewelry taken from the pockets of one of the suspects as belonging to him, according to police. Witnesses then identified the suspects as the boys who broke into the home on Green Moss, police said.
Police said a fifth suspect -- believed to be the girlfriend of one of the boys arrested -- eluded officers and may have the handgun taken from the break-in on Sunwind Way. The boys who were busted were all booked into Sacramento Juvenile Hall.
