Burglars took more than $5,000 worth of antique furniture and appliances out of a house in the 3900 block of Omo Ranch Road in the worst of three recent break-ins targeting homes that are on the market and unoccupied.
The property owner told El Dorado County sheriff's deputies that the theft must have occurred sometime between March 23 and April 3. When she returned to the house to check on it, she discovered that it had pretty much been cleaned out.
David Richie provides more details about the burglaries:
With no obvious signs of forced entry, deputies are trying to determine if the burglar got in through an unlocked window.
Losses included a washer-dryer combination, a television, ornate mirrors and several pieces of antique furniture such as an armoire, a china cabinet and a Welsh dresser.
A real estate agent called deputies to a home in the 3600 block of Mesa Verdes Drive in El Dorado Hills on April 2. Thieves evidently got in by cutting a hole in the side garage door. Once inside the vacant home, they removed 15 copper pipes with an estimated value of $3,400.
A homeowner on View Ridge Lane in Garden Valley returned to her weekend house Saturday and discovered that the living room window had been smashed. The only things missing from the home were a few bottles of wine and some mixers, according to a sheriff's summary.
