The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department seeks a sexual assault suspect who officials said identified himself as a police officer.
According to a sheriff's department news release, at about 5 p.m. June 17, a 28-year-old woman was walking near Watt Avenue and Longview Drive. A man approached the woman and offered her a ride. Authorities said once inside the vehicle the suspect identified himself as an officer and pointed a handgun at the victim. The suspect forced the victim to go back to her motel room, where he sexually assaulted her, authorities said.
According to sheriff's department officials, the suspect, above left, is described as being his early 50's and weighing approximately 200 pounds. He was wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans. The suspect had gray hair with black specks and he was wearing sunglasses. He was driving a blue, early '90s, four-door sedan with a light-colored interior.
Anyone with information regarding this assault is asked to call the Sheriff's Department's sexual assault bureau at (916) 874-5070 or Crime Alert at (916) 443-HELP. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
