Two suspects in a February beating in Folsom have been arrested after pictures of one of them were shown in The Bee and other news media, the Folsom Police Department said Wednesday.
Michael Carrillo, 24, and Angelo Phillips, 26, both of Sacramento, were arrested when Carrillo, left, turned himself into Folsom Police after seeing his picture in The Bee and other news media June 5, said Folsom Police Department spokeswoman Off. Michelle Beattie.
After investigating further, detectives were able to locate Phillips and arrested him without incident, Beattie said. Police also found marijuana and sales paraphernalia in Phillips' vehicle, Beattie said.
Around 1:30 a.m. Feb. 13, Carrillo and Phillips allegedly attacked a man and his girlfriend while they were walking to their car after the man made fun of Phillips' Mohawk haircut, police said.
The man was violently beaten in a parking lot near Sutter Street and Leidesdorff Street, said Officer Michelle Beattie. The victim's girlfriend attempted to help, but she also was struck and knocked to the ground, Beattie said.
Carrillo posted bail Tuesday, according to jail records. Phillips is being held without the bail on possible charges related to the beating and narcotics violations, jail records show.
