From Kim Minugh:
The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department has arrested a woman accused of abducting her two children from their grandmother's home in Palmdale last night, authorities said.
The children, a boy and girl, were found safe.
Teresa Roy, 39, was arrested at about 10 a.m. today on suspicion of child abduction from lawful custodian, said sheriff's Sgt. Tim Curran. She is being transported to the Main Jail, he said.
The two children, ages 5 and 9, live with their grandmother, who had legal custody, in Palmdale, Curran said. Los Angeles County authorities put out an Amber Alert after the children were reported missing Thursday night.
A Sacramento County sheriff's deputy searching south Sacramento for the 2000 Toyota Sienna minivan reported in the Amber Alert saw a vehicle matching the description parked at a Motel 6 on Elsie Avenue this morning, Curran said. The deputy checked the vehicle's license plates, which matched the Amber Alert. He was awaiting backup from other deputies when Roy left her room, Curran said.
The deputy arrested Roy without incident, Curran said.
The children were inside the motel room.
Curran said the abduction appeared to stem from a custody dispute.
