From Art Campos:
Roseville police arrested four teenagers today on suspicion of writing graffiti on fences, sound walls and signs in neighborhoods near Cirby Way and Sunrise Avenue.
Police spokeswoman Dee Dee Gunther said the costs to clean up the vandalism are estimated to be in the thousands of dollars.
Gunther said a citizen spotted two males writing graffiti on a sound wall near Oakmont High School at 12:42 a.m. and called 911.
When police arrived, the suspects fled, she said. However, within a few hours, four suspects were located and arrested, she said.
Officers found more graffiti on Cirby Way, Kensington Drive and in Eastwood Park, she said.
Arrested on suspicion of felony vandalism and conspiracy were Brandon Jon Benvenuti, 19, Jerin Christopher Miller, 18, Moses Mauro John Rodriguez, 18, and a 16-year-old boy.
The juvenile was booked and released into the custody of his parents. The others were booked and released after posting $10,000 bail each, Gunther said.
The spokeswoman said a conviction for felony graffiti carries a possible sentence of up to one year in jail, 300 hours of community service and the payment of fines. Courts also routinely order graffiti vandals to pay restitution to property owners for damage and cleanup costs, she said.
