Lawyer: Wife feared police chief in rape case

From the Associated Press:

The wife of a former Blue Lake police chief accused of raping her allegedly told her former attorney that she feared she would be killed if she testified against her husband.

Attorney Patrik Griego testified in the rape trial of David Gundersen on Tuesday that Darcie Seal told him about her fears when they spoke during the two months leading up to the preliminary hearing, and that she often was shaking and crying.

Gundersen faces two dozen counts of raping Seal repeatedly over a two-year period while she was under the influence of sleeping pills, among other charges.

He has pleaded not guilty to all charges and remains jailed on $1.25 million bail.

Here's the Eureka Times-Standard story about the trial.
