From Bill Lindelof:
Citizens and the Rocklin Police Department combined to catch a suspect who allegedly knocked a woman to the ground in an attempt to steal her purse.
Terrance Doutherd, 20, of Auburn was arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery and violation of probation for an incident that occurred shortly before 4 p.m. Sunday near Sierra College Boulevard and El Don Drive.
Rocklin officers found the victim and several witnesses at the scene of the incident. The victim told them that a man wearing blue jeans and a gray hooded sweatshirt with the hood over his head tried to pull her purse from her shoulder.
The woman struggled and was knocked to the ground, suffering minor head injuries. The man then fled.
Two citizens in separate vehicles stopped to help the woman and also chased the suspect into a nearby apartment complex before losing him.
Rocklin police located the man in the apartment complex. They said that Doutherd already had changed his clothes before being found, hiding the original attire on an apartment balcony.
Doutherd was booked into Placer County Jail and was being held in lieu of $70,000 bail.
