From Niesha Lofing:
Three men are facing criminal charges after allegedly participating in a drug deal gone awry in Roseville, which ended in one of the alleged drug dealers being hit by a car.
Roseville police received a report of a woman having been struck by a Jeep at 4:48 p.m. Oct. 20 in the 300 block of Gibson Drive, police spokeswoman Dee Dee Gunther said.
After allegedly hitting the woman, the Jeep hit a power transformer box, causing an hour-long power outage on the street.
The people in the Jeep ran away, she said.
The 28-year-old Marysville woman suffered broken bones and other serious injuries and was taken to Sutter Roseville Medical Center. She has since been released.
The police department's Vice and Narcotics Enforcement Team investigated the case and discovered that the people involved had met in a parking lot on the street to complete a drug deal and argued over money. The Marysville woman, who is one of the suspected sellers, and another man walked away, Gunther said.
One of the men, Alex Jeffrey Childs, 20, of North Highlands, allegedly got into his Jeep, drove up onto the sidewalk, hit the woman with the vehicle and then hit the transformer box, she said.
On Friday, police arrested Childs (top left photo) on suspicion of attempted murder, attempted drug trafficking, conspiracy and violating probation. He is being held without bail in Placer County Main Jail in Auburn, according to online jail information.
Officers also arrested Thomas Jay Croff (middle photo), 24, of Yuba City, on Thursday. He is being held on $50,000 bail on suspicion of transportation and sales of narcotics, conspiracy and violating parole, according to online jail information.
Officers arrested John Wallace Lewis Jr. (right photo), 36, of Marysville, for a parole violation on Oct. 20. Lewis has been transferred to state custody, Gunther said.
Police have asked the Placer County District Attorney's Office to consider charging the other two people involved in the incident as well, she said.
