A 29-year-old man is in custody Tuesday after he allegedly broke into a 14-year-old's south Sacramento room and began hitting the teen and the pit bull that protected him, according to Sacramento police.
Jeremiah Taylor was arrested near Mack and Franklin roads shortly after the alleged attack, said Sgt. Norm Leong. He is being held at the Sacramento County Main Jail on suspicion of robbery, burglary, child endangerment and violating probation, according to jail booking records. Taylor also has a misdemeanor warrant out of San Bernardino County, records show.
About 11 p.m. Monday night, a suspect broke a glass door and entered the 14-year-old's room on Decathlon Circle in the Parkway neighborhood, Leong said. When the teen began to yell, the suspect began beating the teen, as well as the pit bull who tried to protect the boy. The suspect fled when the boy's mother, hearing her son shouting, entered the room, Leong said.
An officer near Mack and Franklin roads spotted Taylor and matched him to the suspect description in the Decathlon Circle attack, Leong said.
Taylor is being held in lieu of $155,000 bail.
The teen was not injured in the confrontation, Leong said.
