From Sandy Louey and Niesha Lofing:
Sacramento County sheriff's deputies are looking for information about two weekend shootings they believe are connected and may be gang-related.
Deputies were called at 2:08 a.m. Saturday to a gas station at 3800 47th Avenue on a report of people outside the business armed with guns, sheriff's Sgt. Tim Curran stated in a news release.
Deputies found a 21-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds outside the station. He was taken to a local hospital and treated for his injuries.
While deputies were investigating that shooting, they were notified of a second shooting nearby. A man at a home in the 3400 block of La Grande Boulevard had been shot at least once in his upper body.
He was taken to a local hospital, where he died at 10:55 a.m. Saturday.
The Sacramento County Coroner's Office has identified the victim as Leel Wilson, 27, of Elk Grove, a coroner's official said this morning.
The exact cause of death is not known because the man's autopsy hasn't been conducted.
Homicide detectives say they believe the shootings are connected and could be gang-related.
Anyone with information is asked to call homicide detectives at (916) 874-5115 or Crime Alert at (916) 443-4357. Callers can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
