2 men arrested after stabbing at Carmichael restaurant

Sacramento County sheriff's deputies have arrested two men in connection with a stabbing at a Carmichael restaurant early this morning.
Deputies were called at 12:26 a.m. to the Habibi Cafe at 7336 Fair Oaks Blvd. on a report of a stabbing, Sgt. Tim Curran said.
Witnesses gave deputies a description of the vehicle seen leaving the parking lot and a license plate number.
Deputies found a 31-year-old man had been stabbed in the upper body. He was taken to a local hospital and treated for his injuries.
"He is expected to survive," Curran said.
Deputies do not know what prompted the stabbing.
Another deputy patrolling the area spotted a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle and stopped the car at Fair Oaks Boulevard and Sutter Avenue.
The driver, Kuriyakose Pallipurath (photo below left), 20, of Sacramento was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. He is being held on $100,000 in Sacramento County Main Jail.
"We believe he was the stabber," Curran said.
Pallipurath is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday.
The passenger, Mudasar Abid (photo below right), 19, of Sacramento was arrested on suspicion of being drunk in public. He was booked into Sacramento County Main Jail and released today.
