From Niesha Lofing:
A probation officer who long worked with juveniles has been promoted to second in command of Yolo County's probation department.
Yolo County Chief Probation Officer Don L. Meyer announced Monday that Marjorie Rist (left photo) will serve as assistant chief probation officer for the county.
Rist is taking over the position after the recent retirement of Robert Gonzales, who served in probation for more than 30 years, a county news release states.
Rist has been working in the probation field since 1995, when she began her career in Butte County as an extra-help juvenile hall counselor. While in Butte County, Rist served as a juvenile hall counselor and supervisor and as a probation officer for the adult court, juvenile supervision and juvenile placement units, the release states
Rist was hired by Yolo County in 2004 as the assistant juvenile hall superintendent and was promoted two years later to serve as program manager for juvenile probation.
Rist has a bachelor's degree in management from St. Mary's College.
"Ms. Rist's energy, intelligence and ability to communicate and manage effectively will continue to benefit the department as well as the residents of Yolo County for years to come," Chief Probation Officer Meyer stated in the release.
