Oroville teacher arrested on suspicion of statutory rape

From Sandy Louey:

The Butte County Sheriff's Department arrested a 46-year-old Oroville teacher Thursday for allegedly having sex with a female student.

Glenn Bruce Blakey, a ROTC teacher at Las Plumas High School, was arrested at the school on suspicion of five counts of felony statutory rape and two counts of oral copulation with a minor, said sheriff's Sgt. Steven Pelton.

Blakey is being held on $125,000 bail at the Butte County jail, Pelton said.

Pelton said the investigation began after a tip in late January about the relationship between Blakey and a 15-year-old female student in his ROTC class.

Blakey is not believed to be involved with other students, Pelton said.

Blakey is a gunnery sergeant, who is retired from the Marine Corps, according to the Las Plumas High Web site.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call Detective Tom Dryan at (530) 558-7671.
