From Sandy Louey:
Davis police are seeking a man who allegedly sexually assaulted two women in separate incidents Thursday.
Both victims were college-age women. The first reported incident took place at 2:30 a.m. in the 300 block of G Street. A woman was standing in a parking lot talking with a friend when a man approached from behind. He reached under her skirt and sexually assaulted her, Lt. Thomas Waltz said in a news release.
The man fled after the victim's acquaintance confronted him.
The second incident occurred shortly afterward in the 200 block of G Street when a woman was walking to her car. The man approached her from behind, reaching under her skirt and sexually assaulted her, Waltz said.
Police said the woman confronted the man, who fled.
The suspect is described as a 25-year-old Latino man who was 5 feet 3 to 5 feet 5 inches tall. He had black hair and wore a dark-colored jacket with a hood and blue jeans, police said.
Police believe the man is targeting young women who are wearing skirts and have been at restaurants and bars in downtown Davis.
They advise people who are out at night to not walk alone, be aware of their surroundings and report any suspicious activity.
Anyone with information is asked to call police at (530) 747-5430.
