Roseville residents have been hit with a spate of vehicle burglaries in the past few weeks, including at least six Thursday night, police said.
Authorities are asking residents to remove electronic items like portable GPS navigation systems and other valuables from their vehicles. Police are also asking residents to park their vehicles inside locked garages at night if possible and to remove garage door openers from vehicles parked outside.
Most of the burglaries occurred at night in residential areas, but thieves have also hit the parking lots of hotels, fitness centers and golf courses during daytime and nighttime hours.
Police say the thieves will steal from unlocked vehicles when they can find them, but are frequently breaking windows to steal from inside the vehicle.
At least six vehicles parked in the Cirby Side and Cresthaven neighborhoods south of Cirby Way Thursday night had their windows smashed and property taken. The thieves were apparently targeting portable GPS navigation systems, even some that had been stashed out of sight in the vehicles.
Residents are asked to report any suspicious activity or persons immediately.
