From Sandy Louey:
A 79-year-old Sacramento man was arrested for allegedly dealing heroin.
The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department's street team arrested Donaciano Rivera (photo left) on Tuesday. The arrest was the result of a month-long investigation of Rivera, who was identified by a confidential source as a heroin dealer, according to a news release from the Sheriff's Department.
When arrested at his home, Rivera was found to have more than a pound of tar heroin with a street value of more than $36,000, a loaded handgun and $7,100 in U.S. currency, the Sheriff's Department said.
Rivera was arrested on suspicion of possession for sale of a controlled substance, carrying a concealed firearm not registered to owner, possession of a controlled substance while armed with a loaded firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and violating probation.
Rivera, who is ineligible for bail, is being held at the Sacramento County Main Jail. He is scheduled to be in court Thursday, according to online jail records.
Since Jan. 1, the street team has arrested 61 people for selling narcotics and other narcotics-related activities, the department said. The team has also seized more than $30,000 in drug money, 26.57 pounds of marijuana, 50 grams of methamphetamine and taken six guns off the streets.
