From Stan Oklobdzija and Niesha Lofing:
A Citrus Heights boy missing since Monday afternoon has been found, said the boy's father.
Tyler Rexin, 14, was found by a family friend at 9:30 a.m. walking near Auburn Boulevard and Sylvan Road, said his father, Kirk Rexin.
"We're relieved," Rexin said. "I'm really glad he's home and safe."
Rexin was unsure what his son had been doing during the time he was missing, he said.
Citrus Heights police had been searching for Tyler Rexin since about 4 p.m. Monday, following an argument and breakup with his girlfriend, officials say.
Officers had searched several areas of the city, contacted the boy's friends and were scouting MySpace online for information.
Rexin's MySpace page lists his last login as today, but that's because his father logged into the site using his son's information in an effort to try to find out where the boy might be.
Police also were working with Tyler's ex-girlfriend, the father said. After the breakup, Tyler and his girlfriend parted, heading toward their respective homes. Tyler told the girl he would call her that night, Kirk Rexin said.
Rexin said his son likes to spend his free time hanging out with friends and lately has been doing graphic arts work for his friends' bands. "He's a nice kid, very polite," Rexin said.
