From Sandy Louey:
Davis police have arrested a 33-year-old man for reaching under a woman's skirt as she walked in the downtown area. Police say he is a suspect in two similar sexual assaults last week.
Mario Reynosa, a Yolo County resident, was arrested on Sunday on suspicion of sexual battery in connection with an incident that took place early that morning, Davis Police Sgt. Paul Doroshov said Tuesday.
At 1:40 a.m. Sunday, Reynosa allegedly went up to a 23-year-old woman at 2nd and G streets from behind. He reached under her skirt and sexually assaulted her, Doroshov said.
Reynosa fled and within minutes was following a 21-year-old woman near the downtown area. He grabbed the woman by the arm. She yelled for help and some men walking by detained him until police arrived, police said.
Doroshov said Reynosa is a suspect in the two Feb. 26 attacks based on the similarity of the incidents and other evidence.
Both those victims were college-age women, with one incident reported at 2:30 a.m. in the 300 block of G Street. The second was shortly afterward in the 200 block of G Street, police said.
In both cases, a man approached the victims from behind and reached under their skirts.
Police believed that the man was targeting young women wearing skirts and who had been at restaurants and bars in downtown Davis.
