Elk Grove police are investigating a shooting that injured two people Friday night.
Around 11:47 p.m., police were called to Timkir and Frank Greg ways and found an 18-year-old girl who had been hit in the buttocks, according to a report from the Elk Grove Police Department.
Paramedics also responded to the Shell gas station at Elk Grove Boulevard and Auto Center Drive about a 17-year-old girl who had a gunshot wound to the back.
The 17-year-old girl also was in the area of Timkir and Frank Greg when she was shot, police said. Both girls were taken to the hospital for injuries that were not life threatening, police said.
The girls were outside a party being held at the 10200 block of Frank Greg Way when the shooting occurred, hitting both of them, said Officer Christopher Trim, spokesman for the Elk Grove Police Department.
Police said a home in the 6600 block of Timkir Way and an unoccupied vehicle were also hit.
Trim said it is unclear if there were one or two shooters involved in the shooting, which took place on Timkir Way.
The first shooting suspect was described as an African American man from 18 to 20 years old, 5 feet 7 inches tall with a slim build. He wore a black hooded jacket with dark baggy pants.
The second suspect was described as an African American man who was 18 to 20 years old who wore dark clothing.
Police said the suspects fled in an unidentified vehicle.
