From Sarah Frier:
Folsom Police today arrested a 53-year-old man on suspicion of annoying and seducing a 10-year-old girl, police spokeswoman Cindy Allen said.
When police detectives identified Gerald Ivor Edwards, they noted that he was already registered as a sex offender, Allen said.
The 10-year-old girl told her mother she was receiving sexually explicit messages on her computer, Allen said. The mother went on the computer and pretended to be the child, and when she received explicit messages and pornographic images, she called the police, Allen said.
Edwards is now in custody at the Sacramento City Jail, Allen said.
"This is a great reminder to parents to be aware of who their children are talking to on these social networking sites," Sergeant Brian Dean said.
