From Bill Lindelof:
Three people have pleaded guilty in Yolo Superior Court to assaulting a teenager.
Joshua Osborne, 18, is expected to be sentenced to eight years in prison when he returns to court July 7. The other defendants, Richard Dazo, 23, and Hilario Estrella, 19, were immediately sentenced to eight years in prison.
A news release from the Yolo County District Attorney's Office says that Osborne threatened a 14-year-old girl in a text message on Jan. 6. The girl's parents alerted West Sacramento police who then made contact with Osborne.
The next day, Osborne was driving in his car with Dazo and Estrella when they saw the girl walking home from school. Osborne let Dazo and Estrella out of the car, and they assaulted the girl.
During the assault, prosecutors said that the girl was told she received the beating for contacting police.
Prosecutors say Osborne, Dazo and Estrella are members of the Broderick Boys street gang. The three entered pleas of guilty to assault to cause harm and admitted an enhancement to the charge that the assault was for the benefit of a street gang, prosecutors said.
The three entered their guilty pleas during the second day of jury selection on Thursday.
