Sacramento police seek the public's help in identifying a suspect who allegedly sexually assaulted a woman Sunday night.
The woman, who is in her 30s, was sitting near the Sacramento River just off the bike trail between the Tower Bridge and I Street when the alleged assault occurred, a Sacramento Police Department news release states.
The victim was wearing headphones and listening to music when the suspect approached her, grabbed her from behind and physically and sexually assaulted her, the release states.
Police described the suspect (left) as an African American male between 40 and 50 years old, 5-foot, 10-inches to 6-feet tall, and between 180 and 200 pounds. He had a medium-length black and a gray "afro" and possibly had a Southern accent. He walked with a limp and wore a short-sleeved plaid shirt, baggy blue jeans, black tennis shoes, and a light-colored baseball cap, according to the news release.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Alert at (916) 443-4357 or text a tip to 274637 (CRIMES) then enter SACTIP followed by the tip information. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward up to $1,000.
