A 24-year-old Elk Grove man was arrested for allegedly groping a 17-year-old woman - after giving the victim's acquaintance his mother's phone number, according to a police report.
An Elk Grove Police Department report gives this account:
About 2:20 a.m. Thursday, the suspect allegedly came up to the victim and another person walking in Berens Park and told the victim that he had been kicked out of his residence. He gave the victim's acquaintance a phone number and asked that person to call his mother and ask her to let him back into the house.
The suspect then allegedly tried to grab a part of the victim's anatomy. The victim told him to stop but the suspected allegedly tried to grab her "several more times" before fleeing the area.
Police were able to use the phone number to find an address. When officers approached the address, they said they saw the suspect, identified as Daniel Cea, run into the residence.
Officers said Cea refused to open the door at first, but relented after a few minutes.
Officers said they booked Cea into jail on suspicion of sexual battery and obstructing a police officer.
