A 31-year-old Sacramento woman died in a traffic collision Thursday evening that police say they believe was caused by reckless driving.
Authorities say they are also looking for the driver of a red pick-up truck who was involved in the crash and may know the victim, who was identified as Renee A. Hines.
Sacramento police investigators said they believe that Hines, who was driving a white van, and the pick-up truck were driving recklessly and "at speeds unsafe for traffic conditions" on westbound Fruitridge Road shortly before 5:10 p.m.
As they approached 62nd Street, the white van collided with a car that was stopped at the red light at the intersection, police said.
The collision caused Hines to lose control and flip over. She was partially ejected from the van and suffered major injuries. Paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene, authorities said.
Investigators said the van had been reported stolen out of Sacramento and at the time of the collision, Hines was driving on a suspended license and had an active misdemeanor no-bail warrant.
Police are urging the driver of the red pick-up truck to come forward to help find out what led to the crash.
