A south Sacramento woman who was stabbed this morning allegedly pepper-sprayed her assailant - who turns out to be a "close friend" of hers - before the friend took a knife to her leg, according to authorities.
The fight apparently followed a long night of drinking by the two women at a Stockton Boulevard apartment complex, said Sacramento County sheriff's Sgt. Tim Curran. At one point in the early morning, the victim, intoxicated, pepper-sprayed her close friend, 21-year-old Daveena Lee Whitefrost, also intoxicated, and "it went down from there," Curran said.
The victim ended up with a life-threatening stab wound to the leg. She showed up at the Kaiser Permanente South Sacramento Medical Center, whose staff alerted the Sheriff's Department. The victim remains there this afternoon.
Deputies arrested Whitefrost today on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, Curran said. She is being held at the Sacramento County Main Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail, according to booking records.
Curran said the stabbing victim, who lives at the apartment complex where the violence occurred, does not face arrest upon her recovery.
