A Sacramento Superior Court jury today convicted Shane Wilson of Pollock Pines of two counts of kidnapping, six counts of rape and 10 other sexual assault-related charges, the district attorney's office announced today.
District Attorney Jan Scully said Wilson picked up his first victim in October 2008 while she sat at a bus stop on Stockton Boulevard and drove her to a dark area near Power Inn Road where he beat her, shackled her, placed her in his car trunk and then drove her to his house, where the sexual assaults occurred.
A second victim was picked up in February 2009 while she was walking to the store. The district attorney said drove her also to an area off Power Inn Road, attacked her, handcuffed her, taped her hands, feet and mount and placed her in a large metal toolbox in the back of his truck. He drove her also to his house where he sexually assaulted her, according to prosecutors.
Authorities said crucial DNA evidence tied Wilson to both victims.
"This defendant preyed on the most vulnerable of victims," Deputy District Attorney Keith Hill said in a prepared statement. "The successful prosecution of this case has stopped a serial rapist from committing future crimes."
Sentencing is set for Feb. 10.
