The Sacramento County Coroner's Office has released the name of a man homicide deputies believe shot a woman and then turned the gun on himself over the weekend.
He was identified as Eduardo Marin-Magallanes, 28, of North Highlands.
Sacramento County homicide investigators believe that the deaths of Maria A. Maldonado, 31, of Sacramento, and Marin-Magallanes in a North Highlands shed were the result of a murder-suicide.
Marin-Magallanes and Maldonado were found shot to death in the shed behind a house in the 5800 block of Rosario Boulevard late Sunday.
Detectives believe the Marin-Magallanes shot Maldonado and then took his own life. Both had suffered gunshot wounds to their heads.
Investigators found a gun inside the shed, which had been converted into a rental unit. The shed, where the man lived, was locked from the inside.
Friends and co-workers of the pair reportedly had become concerned Sunday because the couple had not been seen since Friday night. Several of them went to the house, broke into the shed, found the bodies and called sheriff's deputies.
